CO+T Remei: betting on integration with Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques
One of the symptoms that most motivates consultations in our service is pain in various locations of the osteomyoarticular system. The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) defines pain as an “unpleasant sensory and emotional experience, linked to a real or potential tissue injury or described in terms of such damage”. For its part, the American Society of Pain considers pain to be the fifth vital sign. It is one of the main symptoms for which people consult and one of those that most impacts on activities of daily living (ADL), nighttime sleep and the functioning of the individual in society, sometimes leading to anxiety-depressive symptoms. It is recognized that it has a high prevalence and a great individual, family, work, social and economic impact.
Its treatment can be complex and requires a very individualized and person-centered approach, even transdisciplinary work is essential. Pain is often related to the individual's own experiences, which is why it presents interindividual and intraindividual variation. So much so that therapeutic strategies must sometimes be individualized and "tailored." Therapies that work with one patient may be completely useless and even cause discomfort when applied to another patient. With regard to osteomyoarticular pain, a complete pain treatment must include, on the one hand, the treatment of the cause (etiological) added to symptomatic measures, which may be non-pharmacological and pharmacological.
At CO+T Remei we value the pain relief and satisfaction of our patients, which is why the combination and integration of other techniques for pain management is a new strategy addressed by the team. To this end, we have brought in Dr. CHEN YONG QIN, an important surgeon, graduated in Qingdao and Beijing, specialist in Acupotomy and Advanced Acupuncture, and a relevant researcher in pain treatment who has achieved positive results in the management of muscle, joint and low back pain.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is based on what is called the Meridian System of the human body, which is responsible for activating or deactivating the changes necessary to maintain the balance and stability of the body's organs and tissues. Stimulation of the meridians by this technique (Acupotomy) improves and restores blood flow, stimulates and adjusts the flow of sensory information in local joints and muscles, normalizing proprioception, as well as having an analgesic effect.
If the therapies and techniques of Western Medicine have failed or are not preferred by the patient to achieve pain relief, then now at CO+T Remei we are thinking of expanding and adding more; all with our goal of integrating the best knowledge and the possibility of offering a quality life project to our patients in mind.
